Paediatric Orthodontics
I dedicate myself with particular attention to paediatric orthodontics, addressing dental and skeletal problems in growing children. Early and targeted intervention can make a significant difference in the development of your smile and oral health.
Paediatric orthodontics is not limited to tooth alignment: it includes evaluating issues related to mouth breathing, narrow palate, reverse bite, and other anomalies that, if left untreated, may require far more complex interventions in adulthood.
Many parents start by looking for a "children's dentist": for crooked teeth, a narrow palate or bite problems, the right specialist is the paediatric orthodontist. At my Mendrisio practice I welcome young patients from all over Canton Ticino (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno) and work closely with local paediatricians and dentists.
What I treat in children
Early intervention
Intercepting problems during the development phase allows us to reduce the complexity and duration of future treatments.
Breathing and posture
I treat issues related to mouth breathing, which can negatively influence the development of the palate and maxilla.
Skeletal development
In growing children, it is possible to guide the development of the jaw bones with functional orthopedic appliances.
First visit at ages 6-7
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7.
